Real Betis defender, German Pezzella, has welcomed Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi to join the Spanish La Liga club.

Pezzella and Messi are both international teammates with the Argentina national team.

Messi’s future at PSG is unclear as he is yet to sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 champions.

His contract will expire at the end of the season and he has been linked with a move to Barcelona, the United States MLS, as well as Saudi Arabia.

Speaking with TyC Sports, Pezzella was asked about Messi’s club future and the defender said while laughing (as quoted by BeSoccer): “Betis open the door for him, we have no problem.

“If he wants to come, we will see. It would also be important for Spain because of everything he attracts.”

“When he is happy, he plays football, he brings joy to a lot of people’s lives and does what he has done all his life on the pitch. As Argentines, we are grateful to have him on our side and to see him play. As a teammate, he keeps surprising you every day.”
