Ballon d’Or: Power Ranking reveals 10 possible winners of this year’s award [See list]

The Ballon d’Or Power Ranking for the end of the season has emerged.

The ranking for May 2023 listed the ten players who have performed extremely well at their various club sides up till the very last days of the 2022-23 season.

The Ballon d’Or is presented to the best football player in the world, as voted by a select panel of international journalists, coaches and captains of national teams.

Here is the Ballon d’Or Power Rankings for the month of May 2023, according to Sportskeeda.

10 Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund will win the German Bundesliga this season, first time in 10 years, if they are able to win their very last match of the season.

This great achievement would not have been possible without the contributions of young midfield maestro Jude Bellingham. This season, the England international has scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in 42 appearances in all competitions so far.

9 Vinicius Junior – Real Madrid

The Brazil international is undoubtedly one of the very best players in the world at the moment. Vinicius has won the Copa del Rey, Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup with Real Madrid this season. He has played 54 games for Real Madrid in competitions so far this season, scoring 23 goals and providing 21 assists.

8 Ilkay Gundogan – Manchester City

Manchester City have won the Premier League this season, being a third consecutive league trophy for them, they are also on the brink of lifting the Champions League and the FA Cup in a single season. If these are achieved, the City captain will definitely be in contention to win the Ballon d’Or as he has been instrumental for the chase for treble this season, The 32-year-old has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 49 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

7 Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – Napoli

Kvaratskhelia has been in sublime form for Napoli in his debut season. His contributions have made Napoli the dominant unit they have been in Italy this term. The 22-year-old has scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions.

He helped the Italian side win the Serie A title this season.

6 Robert Lewandowski – Barcelona

The Poland striker did not slow down his form after leaving Bayern Munich for Barcelona in the summer. Lewandowski has helped the Catalan giants to claim LaLiga title this season. Barcelona also won the Supercopa de Espana this term. The 34-year-old has scored 33 goals and provided seven assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.

5 Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City

The Belgium international has made an incredible 28 assists in addition to scoring 10 goals in 47 appearances so far this season. De Bruyne has established himself as one of the greatest midfielders of the modern era. He will be an intercontinental treble winner at the end of the season if things go as planned. And there is every chance that the 31-year-old will make the Ballon d’Or podium this year.

4 Victor Osimhen – Napoli

The Nigeria international fired the Partenopei to their first Serie A title in 33 years and has burgeoned into one of the best strikers on the planet. Osimhen has scored 28 goals and provided five assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.

3 Kylian Mbappe – Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe has had an exceptional season with Paris Saint-Germain. He has scored 40 goals and provided nine assists in 41 appearances across all competitions so far.

The Frenchman also scored a hat-trick in the World Cup final for France against Argentina late last year. He won the Golden Boot at the World Cup and is on the brink of winning another Ligue 1 title with PSG.

2 Lionel Messi – Paris Saint-Germain

Lionel Messi fought tirelessly to ensure his country Argentina won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. There would have been no contention on who wins the 2023 Ballon d’Or had the Argentina international made it to the Champions League final this season.
Messi has scored 20 goals and provided 20 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions for PSG so far this season.

1 Erling Haaland – Manchester City

The Norway international would likely claim his maiden Ballon d’Or if he helps Manchester City win the continental treble. City are just two wins away from lifting a treble this season. Haaland has been the centre-piece at Manchester City. The Norwegian has already won the Premier League title and is also the top scorer in the league. He has 52 goals and nine assists in 51 appearances.
