Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has revealed that he performed for free at the inauguration ceremony of Abia State’s newly sworn-in Governor, Alex Otti.
This comes after he made his debut performance at the inauguration concert of the Labour Party Chieftain in Umuahia, Abia state, on Monday, May 29.
A Twitter user shared videos of the ‘Timeless’ crooner’s performance on the micro-blogging platform and made a surprising revelation about Davido’s relationship with Alex Otti, stating that he is his godson.
“Many don’t know but Davido is Dr. Alex Otti’s godson and he’s in Umuahia at the inauguration after-party where he’s giving a full performance.
It’s a full-blown show in Umuahia 🔥🔥🔥”, he tweeted.
This triggered a flurry of responses online, with many people shocked by Davido’s relationship with the newly-elected governor of Abia state.
Considering their connection, a Twitter user openly questioned whether Davido was paid to perform at the ceremony.
Interestingly, the award-winning singer spotted the comment and responded by saying he was not paid a dime to grace the stage. He also confirmed that he has known the governor for a long time, and vouched for his credibility.
“Not a dime I’ve known Excellency all my life … and I’m sure he will do well for the people of Abia state ❤️🇳🇬”, he tweeted.
