Nigeria has been reelected into the Executive Council of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).
The agency disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday.
According to the statement, the Director General, Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Professor Mansur Bako Matazu, is to represent Nigeria for a period of four years at the Organization.
Professor Matazu has been a member of the Executive Council since he assumed office as Director General of NiMet.
Other African countries elected into the WMO are Kenya, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Eswatini, South Africa, Egypt, Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire.
The World Meteorological Congress is the highest decision-making body of the World Meteorological Organization, comprising 193 Members States and Territories referred to as Members.
In a similar vein, the United Arab Emirates, Cote d’Ivoire, Ireland and India emerged as the First, Second and Third Vice Presidents of the organization.
