Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has approved the constitution of a high-powered committee to review the performance of all state government parastatals.

Muhammad Shehu Molash, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, said in a statement on Monday that the decision was made in line with the governor’s commitment to ensuring that government agencies are operating at the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness.

He said the committee would be chaired by the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, adding that she would be responsible for conducting a comprehensive analysis and appraisal of all state government parastatals to assess their performance, identify areas for improvement, and make recommendations where necessary.

Other members of the committee are Sani Kila (Chief of Staff, Sir Kashim Ibrahim House), Habiba Shekarau (Head of Service, Hassan Usman Katsina House), Muhammad Hafiz Bayero, Senior Advisor, Counsellor, Sir Kashim Ibrahim House), Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar (Honorary Advisor, Sir Kashim Ibrahim House) and Dr Salisu S. Abubakar (Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria).

Others are Mary Olalerin (Office of the Secretary to the State Government), Muhammad Bashir Umar (Permanent Secretary, General Services, SSG’s office), Bashir Muhammad (Permanent Secretary, Planning and Budget Commission), and Iliya Duniya (Director, Cabinet Affairs), who is to serve as secretary.

The statement outlined the terms of reference to include an assessment of the complete records of the heads of parastatals in terms of their qualifications and experience, a comprehensive assessment of the performance of the parastatals based on their functions, and making recommendations on each of the parastatals.

The committee, which is also expected to provide other recommendations that will enhance the proper function of the parastatals, is to submit its report within three weeks.

The governor urged all parastatals to cooperate fully with the committee to ensure a successful evaluation process.
