Nigerian afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, aka Davido, has reflected on the evolution of the genre during his 12-year run at the top.

The ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ crooner said the African music industry back then when he started and now is not the same.

He noted that afrobeats has grown from a poorly-funded industry to a multi-billion dollar industry.

Davido covered the first-ever edition of the Native Now Magazine.

He said afrobeats artists now are not only making millions of dollars but also changing lives and communities.

He said, “Afrobeats now and then is different, it’s a multi-billion dollar industry.

“You can’t compare it to years ago when we were just faffing around.

“We were making amazing music and a lot of money but now people are changing communities, changing lives.”
