“I really think I should be paid for being a celebrity” – Singer, Speed Darlington (Video)

Controversial Nigerian singer, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has stated that he thinks he should be paid for being a celebrity.

The United States-based rapper made this statement during his appearance on the latest episode of media personality Nedu’s Honest Bunch podcast.

According to Speed Darlington, he thinks he deserves to be paid for his celebrity status.

When the hosts asked him why he believes he deserves payment, Speed Darlington used the analogy of a meat pie to illustrate his point, emphasizing that people are willing to pay for what they love.

Nedu countered by stating that without the love and support of fans, Speed Darlington wouldn’t have achieved celebrity status.

However, Speed Darlington dismissed this notion, questioning, “What generates that love? Why don’t people hug a madman on the street?

Just recently, Speed Darlington engaged in a war of words with some shoppers at a supermarket in the Ajah area of Lagos state.

A video circulating on social media shows the singer engaging in a verbal altercation with the shoppers at a mall.

It was gathered that the fans spotted Speed Darlington in the supermarket and approached him for a picture, due to his celebrity status. However, he allegedly demanded a fee of N5,000 for a picture with him.

This seemingly infuriated the shoppers who lambasted him for his audacity to demand money for a simple photograph. They also berated him and questioned his relevance and identity in the society.

As tension escalated in the supermarket, Speed Darlington, known for his uncouth speech, didn’t hold back in insulting the fans as well. Watch video here.
