The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dispelled the rumours making the rounds in the state of crisis among members of the State Executive Council, stating that the situation is being fueled by desperate political gladiators.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Aiyedatiwa clarified that he has maintained constant communication with his boss, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who is currently on medical leave abroad due to an undisclosed ailment.

The acting governor also assured the public that Akeredolu is expected to return to office soon and continue his official duties as soon as he is certified medically fit by his doctors.

Aiyedatiwa further conveyed Akeredolu’s appreciation for the prayers and good wishes received from the people of the state, emphasising that the governor is in high spirits and is recuperating well.

“I have been in touch with him, the latest being on Sunday, July 9, 2023, when he expressed appreciation to me and other State Executive Council Members for holding the fort while he is away.

“I would like to urge the general public, as usual, to ignore these unfortunate lies and subterfuge as the antics of desperate political gladiators across political divides.”
