Rising Nigerian songstress Tems revealed her current favorite African acts while speaking to press at the star-studded Time 100 Next Gala last night.
When asked which artists she’s listening to, Tems enthusiastically cited fellow Nigerian stars Asake and Tyler ICU, better known as Tyla. She complimented their unique sounds and skilled creativity.
Tems made history as the first Nigerian female solo artist to perform at the event. She took the opportunity to highlight Asake and Tyla as standouts among Africa’s thriving music scene.
The shoutout comes as both mentioned artists continue making waves globally. Asake’s debut album “Mr. Money With the Vibe” broke multiple records this year. Tyler ICU has also earned attention for his genre-bending trap sound.
