Hailing from Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, Oludotun Martins, also known as Cool Dj D1, is a seasoned Disc Jockey with several decades of career. A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University with a B.A. in Philosophy, Cool Dj D1 began his journey in the music world in the 80s, starting as a studio DJ at renowned locations such as Godfather Recording Studio Ife, Galaxy Music Theater Ife, and Plateaux Records Store in Ibadan and Lagos.
Known as “Dj Dotun Galaxy The Smooth Mix Master” back in the day, he became a prominent figure in Nigeria’s club scene, spinning tracks in various nightclubs, including Nightshift Coliseum in Opebi, Lagos, Kokodome, Platinum, Cottons Club, and Walan Club of D’Rovans Hotels in Ibadan, from 1990 to 2005. In addition to his club gigs, he graced the airwaves as a radio DJ on popular stations like BCOS Radio 2 in Ibadan, OSBC Osogbo, Uniq FM Ilesha, and Crown FM Ile-Ife. He was also a TV presenter and producer on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) before relocating to New York, USA, in 2016.
