The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has announced the confiscation of controlled drugs worth over N2.6 billion in Gumel Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The commander of the Jigawa State NDLEA Command, Musa Maina, made this known while parading the suspects on Monday at the Command Headquarters in Dutse.

He stated that three suspects were arrested alongside two vehicles.

According to Maina, the two vehicles seized by the Agency were used to transport the drugs to Konar Dolle, from where the substances were distributed to various centres across Jigawa, Yobe, Bauchi, and into the Niger Republic.

He revealed that the suspects, apprehended after a three-day sting operation covering Jigawa and Kano States, were identified as Jamilu Muhammad, Abba Ibrahim, and Shuaibu Umar.

Further explaining the operation, Maina disclosed that the seized drugs included 118.6 tonnes of Tramadol tablets and 195.3 kilograms of Pregabalin capsules, which had been loaded into a Toyota Sienna and an 18-seater Hummer bus.

Maina added that the suspects are currently undergoing further interrogation in order to uncover all individuals involved in the illicit operation.
