The Adamawa State Civil Service Commission has disclosed that 20,000 applicants have applied for job openings in the state civil service just 24 hours after the application portal was opened.

The Commission assured that merit will be the guiding principle in selecting successful applicants.

Abubakar Maiha, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, revealed this in an interview with LEADERSHIP in Yola, the state capital, on Wednesday. He emphasized that the recruitment process would be fair and credible, in line with the directive of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who had mandated a level-playing field for all candidates.

“We are committed to ensuring a fair and credible process for all applicants. This exercise is being conducted under the clear directive of His Excellency, Governor Fintiri, to uphold transparency and equal opportunity,” Maiha stated.

He further disclosed that over 20,000 applications were received within the first day of the portal opening, a number that reflects the high interest in the 4,000 vacancies available across various departments.

Due to the massive turnout, the Commission has upgraded its systems to manage the traffic and prevent glitches.

“The volume of applications prompted us to upgrade our systems to prevent glitches and to accommodate the surge in traffic,” Maiha added.

The application window will remain open for two weeks, after which successful applicants will be shortlisted for interviews and subsequent documentation.

The Commission encouraged interested candidates to apply promptly and avoid waiting until the last minute to submit their applications.

The decision to recruit 4,000 new workers into the state workforce came following a directive by Governor Fintiri, aiming to strengthen public service delivery in Adamawa.
