The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has called for leveraging technology to combat insurgency and banditry in Nigeria.

The APC National Chair made the call on Wednesday when he led members of the National Working Committee of the party on a sympathy visit to Yobe State over the attack on a military formation.

He described as unfortunate the resurgence of insurgents’ attacks in the state and the Northeast subregion.

“We also acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Government, security agencies and communities, but the situation has reached an advanced stage now where strategy must be changed.

“In our opinion, technology should be deployed in addressing the security situation of the country”, he said.

Ganduje also advised that the nation’s forests must be liberated from criminals, emphasizing the need for surveillance mechanisms to monitor forests that have become hideouts for terrorists and other criminals.

Governor Mai Mala Buni appreciated the APC’s NWC for its commitment to supporting efforts to restore peace and security in the region.

“We, at the Subnational level and Governors of the Lake Chad Basin Forum are carefully analysing the use of drones by the enemy to collaborate with security agencies to check the menace,” Buni said.
