President Bola Tinubu has ordered a final offensive against the Lakurawa insurgents, urging the military to intensify efforts to eliminate the threat from Kebbi State and across the country.
This directive was conveyed by the Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru-Abubakar, during a visit to Governor Nasir Idris in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

Badaru, who was in the state to assess ongoing military operations and boost troop morale, delivered the President’s message of appreciation and determination to end insecurity.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday after a courtesy visit to Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, Badaru emphasised the President’s satisfaction with ongoing military efforts.
“We are not saying that we have ended insecurity, but we are saying that we are improving gradually, slowly and steadily, and we will end it, Insha Allah,” he said.

He explained that his mission to Kebbi was to review the operations of security forces in the state and deliver a message of appreciation from President Tinubu.

“The President is appreciative of what the troops are doing in the country, and specifically in Kebbi,” he said.
“And with the threats of Lakurawa, the troops have done so well. Mr President asked me to encourage them to do more so that we block the Lakurawa development in the country.”

Badaru added that the President is determined to see the end of the Lakurawa threat.
“Let us finish them at this stage and from here. The military leadership confirmed to me that they will not rest on their oars until they flush out Lakurawa and keep Kebbi and Nigeria safe,” he noted.
