Ogun State Government has commended the Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps also known So-Safe Corps for its critical role in boosting security at the grassroots level and providing effective support to conventional law enforcement agencies across the state.
This commendation was made by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rotimiolu Akinlesi, during an inspection visit to the Corps’ headquarters located at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta on Friday.
Akinlesi praised the Corps for its ongoing contributions to the preservation of peace and order, saying their efforts have significantly advanced the protection of lives and property, which in turn has bolstered socio-economic development in the state.
He said, “The So-Safe Corps has played a vital role in maintaining the peace we currently enjoy in the state.
“Their dedication to security at the community level has laid a solid foundation for sustainable development”.
He assured the Corps of the Ministry’s continuous backing, noting, “As the supervising Ministry, we remain committed to creating an enabling environment that empowers officers to thrive in their duties.”
Speaking during the visit, the State Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, expressed appreciation for the unrelenting support of the state government and the Ministry.
He noted that recent infrastructural upgrades at the headquarters have improved the operational effectiveness of the Corps.
His words, “We are grateful for the state government’s support, especially the recent renovations at our headquarters which have greatly enhanced our operational capabilities”.
Reaffirming the Corps’ dedication to securing the state, he highlighted their proactive approach to crime prevention through community involvement, sensitization, and orientation programmes.
Commander Ganzallo also urged chairmen of the 20 Local Government Areas in Ogun State to provide necessary logistical support to the Corps to ensure the safety of residents in their domains.
