Troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, have neutralised five terrorists and rescued 38 family members of fleeing insurgents during a clearance operation in the Geizua area of Borno State.

The operation, conducted in collaboration with Hybrid Forces and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), forms part of the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity IV.

It targeted known terrorist hideouts in the Shehutari and Churchur axis of Bama Local Government Area.

A reliable military source told Zagazola Makma that the operation commenced at about 8 a.m. on May 8, 2025, with troops advancing from their harbour location and clearing several camps, many of which were found abandoned.

During the mission, the soldiers encountered fleeing insurgents and engaged them in a firefight, resulting in the elimination of five terrorists.

In a separate encounter, troops intercepted 38 individuals identified as family members of the insurgents—comprising 17 adult women and 21 children. They were taken into custody for profiling and further investigation.

The successful operation marks another milestone in the ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace in the Northeast.
