At least eight people have been confirmed dead following an attack by suspected armed Fulani militias on farmers in Chinku community, Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, near the Benue border.

According to reports obtained by Zagazola, the attackers, wielding firearms and machetes, invaded the area and targeted farmers working on their farmlands.

A team of security operatives later recovered the bodies of the victims, who were identified as Jonathan Ordonga, Joseph Torsev Yagba, Aondolumun Torsev Yagba, Torkulugh Apirgwa, Orfega Atuku, Orshoja Kuramga, Tersugh Mbaaiiga, and Shater Buchi.

All the victims were of Tiv ethnicity and were either shot or hacked to death. Their remains were taken to Iorna Clinic in Jootar, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, where they were confirmed dead and handed over to their families for burial.

In response to the incident, security authorities have summoned the Ardo of the Fulani community in Chinku to an emergency meeting at the Wukari Local Government Secretariat.

He was urged to cooperate in identifying those responsible for the attack and to caution his community members against further violence.
