Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has promised an improved performance from his players against South Africa.
Nigeria will take on the Amajita in a semi-final fixture at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Ismailia on Thursday.
The Flying Eagles booked a date with South Africa after overcoming holders Senegal 3-1 on penalities in the quarter -final at the Suez Canal Stadium, Ismailia on Monday.
South Africa on the other hand needed extra-time to beat Democratic Republic of Congo in their last eight contest.
Zubairu’s side earned plaudits for their impressive performance against the Senegalese, and the gaffer said his players will raise the bar once again when they do battle with South Africa.
“I believe we are going to have a great semi-final against the South Africans. I can guarantee that our approach will be much better, as the anxiety of whether or not we will earn a FIFA World Cup ticket is no longer there. It was a tense 120 minutes for ourselves and the defending champions on Monday,” he told thenff.com.
“We have the World Cup ticket now and are quite happy. Against South Africa, we will play with great determination and composure, as we aim for the trophy.”
