Three armed robbery suspects have been brought before a court in Adamawa State for allegedly terrorizing Modibbo Adama University, Yola.

The suspects, now defendants at the Chief Magistrate Court II, Yola, are Aliyu Bala, Yusuf Sale, and Abdullahi Abubakar, all of different addresses in Yola North LGA.

They were arraigned Tuesday when the court heard that during their last operation, which led to their arrest, the trio and 12 others now at large allegedly invaded Waya Ventures Villa and Salima Students Compound, both around the university community called Sabon Gari Futy.

Armed with offensive weapons, they subjected their victims to extreme fear and carted away properties valued at N2.5 million.

Aliyu and the two other defendants pleaded guilty to the offences on their arraignment, admitting that they robbed students of five laptops and 12 smartphones, which they sold to three people whom they identified as Sani Sale, Jamilu Sani, and Bashir Ibrahim.

Eleven victims had jointly reported to the police on April 2, 2025, that the defendants and several others currently at large stormed their compounds earlier on that date and robbed them of their valuables.

The defendants were remanded on charges of criminal conspiracy, robbery, and dishonestly receiving property stolen in the commission of brigandage or robbery.

Arraigning the defendants on behalf of the Adamawa State Police Command, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Ahmed Abubakar, urged the court to read the content of the First Information Report in a language the defendants would understand in order to enter their plea.

After the plea of the defendants, the Prosecutor prayed the court to adjourn the matter to enable police to complete the investigation, after which the court ordered the remand of the defendants until May 27, 2025.
