National Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has received 24 retired military officers who declared allegiance to the movement.

DAILY POST reports that the ex-officers, all indigenes of Kano State, retired in January 2025 after serving the Nigerian Armed Forces for 35 years.

Their decision to join Kwankwasiyya is reportedly seen as a strong endorsement of the movement’s grassroots appeal and a significant boost to its political structure ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The delegation was said to be led by the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board, Kabiru Getso Haruna, who described their decision as a calculated and principled alignment with the values and vision of Kwankwasiyya.

“These are disciplined, patriotic Nigerians who have given their lives to the service of the country. Now, they are committing their experience and integrity to strengthening a movement that represents the hope of the common people,” Getso stated.

The former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, while receiving the group in Kano, expressed deep gratitude for their gesture and acknowledged their past service to the nation. He assured them of a prominent role in advancing the ideals of democracy, inclusion, and development through the Kwankwasiyya platform.

“This is a moment of pride and honour. These men have served the nation with distinction, and now they are joining us to serve democracy and the people. Their commitment will further strengthen our collective resolve to build a better Nigeria,” Kwankwaso said.

According to him, the involvement of respected professionals like retired officers was critical to building an inclusive political movement that is anchored on merit, discipline, and service delivery.
