The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a mix of sunny, cloudy, and thunderstorm conditions across the country from Sunday to Tuesday.
In its weather outlook released on Saturday in Abuja, NiMet predicted mostly sunny skies on Sunday, with cloud patches and thunderstorms expected in parts of Gombe, Bauchi, Kaduna, Taraba, and Adamawa States during the afternoon and evening.
For the North-Central region, sunny skies are expected with isolated thunderstorms likely in parts of Kwara, Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger, Benue, and Kogi States in the later part of the day.
In the southern region, morning thunderstorms were forecast in Cross River, Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, and Akwa Ibom States, with additional isolated thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and evening.
On Monday, the northern region is expected to experience sunny weather with patches of cloud, along with morning thunderstorms in Taraba and Adamawa States.
Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are likely in parts of Kaduna, Taraba, and Adamawa.
The North-Central region is forecast to have mostly sunny conditions with chances of isolated thunderstorms in the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kwara, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Plateau States.
The southern region will experience morning thunderstorms in Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States, followed by further thunderstorms later in the day.
By Tuesday, sunny skies with few clouds will prevail in the northern region, with isolated morning thunderstorms expected in parts of Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, and Adamawa.
Thunderstorms are also likely later in the day in Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Adamawa and Taraba States.
In the North-Central region, sunny skies with scattered clouds are expected, along with isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening in the FCT, Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau, Benue, and Niger States.
The southern region will continue to experience morning thunderstorms in Cross River, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States, with more storms expected later in the day.
NiMet advised the public to take necessary precautions as thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong winds.
Residents are urged to secure loose items, avoid driving in heavy rain, disconnect electrical appliances, and stay away from tall trees to prevent hazards from falling branches.
Airline operators were also advised to consult NiMet for updated weather information to ensure safe flight operations.
