The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspected kidnappers and rescued seven kidnap victims in separate operations.

The NPF made this known in a statement signed by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The statement said the arrests were made possible through credible intelligence and coordinated operations by police operatives.

Adejobi explained that Lookman Tanko and Peter Apai were apprehended in separate operations in Taraba State, with firearms and ammunition recovered from them.

“Lookman Tanko was found with an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action rifle, and a long gun, while Peter Apai was in possession of an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action shotgun, and an AK-47 magazine,” the Force PRO stated.

Both suspects are in custody undergoing investigation and will be charged to court soon.

In a related development, the police also rescued seven abducted persons in Niger State. They were abducted from Tungan-Boka and Masaha villages of Mashegu local government area.

According to Adejobi, the kidnappers engaged in a gun duel with police operatives but were overpowered, and the victims were rescued unhurt.

Adejobi further revealed that in Plateau State, police raided a criminal hideout along Bauchi road in Jos North local government area and recovered 500 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition linked to a culpable homicide case.
