FCT: Reason for mass defection in LP — Party Chieftain, Ajaegbu

A Labour Party chieftain and aspirant, Ifeanyichukwu Ajaegbu, has explained the reason the opposition party members are defecting to the ruling All Progressives Party.

He said those defecting from LP are doing so because they never had the party’s ideology of caring for the masses at heart.

Ajaegbu made this known on Wednesday in his speech after he purchased the form to vie for the Abuja Municipal Council, Federal Capital Territory chairmanship position.

According to him, the party has the wherewithal to sweep the six area council chairmanship positions in the FCT area council elections scheduled for June 25th, 2025.

He said the LP FCT chapter under the leadership of Julius Abure has surmounted its recent crisis and is ready to battle APC and PDP.

“Remember that the Labour Party is built for the ordinary workers.

“Those defecting from the Labour Party enter into the party with the ideology of the People’s Democratic Party and All Progressives Party, not LP. If they do, Mama, Papa, and Pikin are crying, yet they are defecting, showing they lack wisdom,” he said.

On his part, the party chairman, Diugwu Peter said the upcoming FCT must be free and fair.

“The war is over; we are now moving forward. “Ifeanyichukwu is the fifth aspirant to pick chairmanship form at N8 million.

“The election must be free and fair; we have not anointed any candidate.”
