The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has reiterated its directive outlawing some leaders of the party from serving as coordinators of governorship aspirants in the ongoing political development in the state.

The party made this known in a statement issued by the Osun APC Secretary, Alao Olabisi Kamoru and Kola Olabisi, the Director of Media and Information on Friday in Osogbo.

The party said the decision was taken after rising from a meeting with some of the stakeholders of the APC in Osun State a few days ago.

DAILY POST recalled that about six gubernatorial aspirants have started their consultation agenda across the state, despite the fact that the leadership of the party is yet to come up with a guideline about the governorship election in the party.

The political temperature of the opposition APC is increasing in the state as the aspirants, their foot soldiers and their supporters have started canvassing for their respective aspirants with fanfare.

The Osun State chairman of the party, Tajudeen Lawal, declared that, “the unit executive members, ward executive members, state executive members, zonal and national executive members were all disallowed from playing the role of coordinators for any of the governorship aspirants.”

According to the statement, “the state leadership of the party has also added the elders and the apex leaders at all the levels of the party from coordinating for the governorship aspirants in the interest of perpetual peace in the party.

“The affected office holders are prevailed upon not to handle the directive with levity as the state leadership of the party would not hesitate to wield a big stick on any recalcitrant titled member of the party who violates the directive.”

The state leadership of the party also reminded the governorship aspirants that it would be imperative for them to whip their supporters and foot soldiers into line and educate them on the need not to engage in the campaign of calumny, antagonism and hostility with the resultant effect of unnecessarily heating up the polity.

“All the stakeholders of the party should always remember the fact that we are members of the same political family who should contribute our own quota towards the collective mission of sending Governor Ademola Adeleke packing through the 2026 governorship election.

“It is important for us to deploy our energy and salvos towards the task of sending Governor Adeleke back to Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America through constitutional means of working assiduously for the party.

“We should all remember that whoever emerges the governorship candidate of our party would equally need the input and cooperation of the others to be the next landlord of Bola Ige House.

“Let our philosophy from this moment henceforth be how to make our party more potent and virile in the overall interest of our collective aspiration of going back for the occupation of the political leadership theatre of the state in 2026,” the statement concluded.
