The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi has stressed that the crown of Yoruba traditional rulers is a pure symbol of God whose sanctity must be protected at all cost most especially by the occupants of the stool.

Oba Akanbi made this statement while receiving a delegation forum of non-idol worshipping Yoruba traditional rulers from Egbedore local government on Thursday in Iwo.

Oba Akanbi, who lamented that against the will of God, the traditional stool has been subjected to the dictates of secret cults and societies, added that most Yoruba monarchs have been imprisoned from enjoying the richness of culture and freedom.

Oluwo also revealed that the visit was to strengthen the traditional institution by making monarchs independent most especially from mental slavery.

He said, “Crown is a pure symbol of God whose sanctity must be protected at all cost most especially by the occupants of the stool.

“Against the will of Olodumare, the stool has been subjected to the dictates of secret cults/society.

“Most Yoruba monarchs have been imprisoned from enjoying the richness of our culture and freedom of many sorts.”

He added that compulsion for Yoruba monarchs to be members of secret societies had subjected many of them to ridicule and contempt.

Oluwo also expressed assurance that the forum will commit to erase the generational curses accrued to the worshiping of deities.

He said, “Being a member of any secret society has subjected many monarchs to ridicule and contempt.”

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Agbaekun of Obadiimu, Oba Micheal Olakuitan Opajimi II, expressed strong hope in the striving of the forum with God as the bedrock.

The delegates also pledged unalloyed support to the propagation of pure Yoruba culture and traditions without idolatry.

They volunteered to be active in preaching the gospel of God only.
