Residents of Kebbi State are expected to experience stable electricity again as the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has announced that full power supply will be restored on or before Thursday, June 19, 2025.
The state has endured nearly two months of blackout following the collapse of critical transmission towers along the Kainji–Birnin Kebbi 330kV line.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that two additional towers collapsed in Galadima Village, Shanga LGA, after a windstorm, worsening the electricity situation across the state.
To keep parts of the state running, limited supply was rerouted from the Shiroro Power Station in Niger State.
However, residents and businesses have had to rely heavily on alternative energy sources, including generators and solar panels.
The TCN, in its latest update, said reconstruction works on the damaged towers are now in the final phase. Contractors are reportedly working round the clock to meet the June 19 deadline.
Once completed, Kebbi will be reconnected to the national grid via the Kainji–Birnin Kebbi line, restoring stable electricity to homes, businesses, and essential services, particularly as demand continues to rise during the rainy season.
