President Bola Tinubu has expressed dissatisfaction over the failure of security agencies to arrest suspects linked to the deadly attack on the Yelewata community of Benue State, which claimed more than 200 lives.

The president, while speaking on Wednesday, during a town hall meeting with stakeholders at the Benue State Government House in Makurdi, questioned the Inspector-General of Police over the absence of arrests days after the massacre.

“Police, I hope your men are on alert to listen to information. How come no arrest has been made? I expect there should be arrests of those criminals.

“I give you the assurance that we will find peace and convert this tragedy to prosperity,” Tinubu said.

The president, therefore, urged the Chief of Defense Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, and other security heads to double their efforts in bringing those behind the heinous crime to book.

“Christopher, I watched your comment, and I know you can’t be tired staying in the bush with Oluyede (COAS). But we need to keep our ears to the ground and help get those criminals,” he said.

Earlier, the president arrived in Benue State on a condolence visit following last Friday’s attack on the Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area.
