Yemen’s Houthi rebels have issued a warning, vowing to strike American ships in the Red Sea should the United States join Israel in direct military action against Iran.
In a statement released by the group’s media wing, the Houthis accused Israel of attempting to “eliminate Iran,” which they described as “the greatest obstacle” to Israeli ambitions of regional dominance.
“Should the Americans become involved in attacking or aggressing against Iran alongside the Israeli enemy, the Yemeni Armed Forces will target their ships and warships in the Red Sea,” the statement declared.
The Houthis, backed by Iran and entrenched in Yemen’s ongoing civil war, have repeatedly threatened U.S. and allied vessels in the region since hostilities in Gaza intensified.
The group stated that it is “closely monitoring movements in the region” and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Iran and Palestine.
“We will not abandon our brothers in the Gaza Strip, nor will we allow this criminal entity, backed by America, to execute its plans in the region,” the Houthis added, referring to Israel.
The warning comes as tensions between Iran and Israel reach a boiling point following days of intense Israeli airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear targets.
The Trump administration has not formally declared military involvement, but reports indicate that Washington is weighing potential support options for Israel, including intelligence sharing and regional reinforcements.
The US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, stationed in Bahrain, has not responded to the Houthis’ latest statement.
