President Bola Tinubu has said that the road projects by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, are opening up the capital city to businesses, housing, and investment.

Tinubu made this statement in Abuja on Tuesday during the inauguration of the road linking Idu to Zuba.

The road is part of the projects initiated by Wike to mark the president’s second year in office.

The president, who was represented at the commissioning by the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, described the road as a “critical piece” of the FCT master plan aimed at easing traffic flow in Abuja.

He commended Wike for his vision and commitment towards the execution and timely delivery of these projects.

Tinubu maintained that the road would unlock economic potential and enhance sustainable development in Abuja.

He said, “This infrastructure is a critical piece of the federal territory’s master plan to ease traffic flow for billions of commuters, residences, and businesses in the city.”

The president emphasised the need for the minister to continue road expansion as a means of easing traffic in the FCT and its satellite towns.

“It will open more opportunities for businesses, housing, and investment in the adjoining districts,” he said.

Earlier, the FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, noted that Wike is committed and determined in his drive for impactful and people-oriented projects.

Mahmoud said the road exemplifies the president’s determination to ensure Nigeria becomes prosperous.

In his remarks, the acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Development Authority, FCDA, Mr Richard Dauda, stated that the INEX was the primary road binding the inner development corridor of the northern flank of the city.

He stressed that the full scope of the road in the Abuja Master Plan, from Maitama to ONEX, was a 32.5-kilometre 10-lane expressway.

“It then proceeds to Phase III and Phase IV, through the Idu Industrial Area and terminates at ONEX,” he said.
