Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday arrested two suspected traffic robbers in separate operations around the Ketu and Mile 12 areas of Kosofe Local Government.
The suspects, identified as Samuel Adekunle and Yemi Aparaojo, were apprehended by personnel of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, a specialized unit under the command.
The arrests were confirmed in a statement posted on the RRS official Facebook page on Wednesday.
According to the statement: “The operatives of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad, RRS, a unit of the Lagos State Police Command, on Tuesday morning arrested two notorious traffic robbers operating around Ketu and Mile 12, Kosofe.
The suspects, Yemi Aparaojo, popularly known as Asa, and Samuel Adekunle, also known as Omo-jo-Ibo, were arrested around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.”
The RRS disclosed that Aparaojo, an ex-convict, had only recently been released from the Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre in May 2025 after serving six and a half years.
His accomplice, Adekunle, was said to have been on the police radar for his alleged involvement in multiple traffic robbery cases across the Ajelogo and Ketu areas.
According to the police, the suspects, along with two others still at large, robbed a passerby of N25,000 last week after persistently harassing him for money.
When the victim attempted to offer assistance, he was assaulted and dispossessed of his cash.
The breakthrough came when the victim spotted Adekunle on Tuesday and immediately alerted RRS officers, who acted swiftly to arrest both suspects.
The remaining two members of the gang reportedly escaped through the nearby Ketu Market.
Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Sola Jejeloye, in compliance with directives from the Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, has intensified patrol operations along the Ketu and Mile 12 corridors to deter further criminal activity.
Jejeloye has also ordered that the suspects be arraigned without delay, while a manhunt continues for the fleeing accomplices.
