Abia State State government has advised the people of Ndiwo and Amaba Ubibia communities in Bende LGA of the State to refrain from further land conflict, assuring that it is committed to resolving longstanding land dispute between them.

The land dispute which has lingered for sometime, had in 2022, tragically led to the death of Mr. Paul Udoncha, the father of Mr Chukwuma Paul and the destruction of their house.

Addressing the two communities in his office in Umuahia during a peace meeting, Abia State Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu called for peaceful coexistence between them.

Emetu, who emphasised that the administration of Governor Alex Otti is committed to fostering peaceful coexistence among all communities in the State, advised the Ndiwo and Amaba Ubibia villages to refrain from any action that may threaten the peace and development in their areas.

He further promised that the State government would review all legal documents related to the disputed area to determine its status in court.

Also, the Deputy Chief of Staff, office of the Deputy Governor, Chijioke Nwankwo, requested the legal counsel to the Amaba people to submit Court documents to the Permanent Secretary/Solicitor General of Abia State for further insight.

The meeting, which was attended by notable figures, including the executive Chairman of Bende Local Government Area, Bassey Uwabunkeonye, a representative of the Commissioner of Police, and other prominent personalities, was aimed at promoting peace and resolving the land dispute amicably.
