The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of a 50-year-old man, Salisu Musa who fell into a well in Gora Village, Madobi Local Government Area, after reportedly experiencing a spiritual episode.

According to a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi on Sunday, the incident was reported by a fire officer identified as SFS Sadi Gora.

He explained that the rescue team from the Service Headquarters arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the alert.

“Upon arrival, they found the victim had already become unconscious in the well. It was gathered that he had been suffering from a demonic illness (Aljannu). During one of his episodes, he ran away and unfortunately fell into the well. He cried for help but no one came to his rescue on time,” the statement said.

The man was brought out of the well by the rescue team but was later confirmed dead.

His body was handed over to Inspector Nuhu Danial of the Madobi Police Division.

In a separate incident, a 37-year-old woman identified as Maryam Bita was rescued alive after falling into a well in the France Road area of Fagge Local Government.

The Service said it received a distress call around 4:50 am from a man named Joseph Pitter, who reported the incident. The rescue team from the headquarters responded immediately.

“Thanks to divine intervention and the quick response of our men, we successfully rescued her alive and rushed her to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for treatment,” the statement added.

The woman was later handed over to Police Constable Mu’azu Abdullahi of Sabon Gari Police Division for further assistance.
