Suspected bandits attacked the Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killed 15 persons, and injured several others.
The Executive Chairman of the Local Government Council, Alhaji Isa Bashir Kalanjeni, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the suspected assailants stormed Kwallaijiya village in the early hours of Wednesday and started shooting sporadically, and in the process killed over 15 persons.
According to him, several others sustained degrees of injuries, just as he called on security agencies to intensify their surveillance in the local government.
According to him, he had led a delegation to the village and attended the mass burial of the victims.
However, the police in the state are yet to confirm the incident, as the Command’s spokesperson was yet to respond to phone calls to his mobile lines.
