The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, has said no fewer than two persons have lost their lives and nine others were severely injured in a road accident that occurred along the Owode-Ijako area of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The accident involved a red DAF truck with registration number JJJ-144XD, a white Mazda bus registered as EPE-394XP, and a yellow-coloured tricycle registered as DGB-599VC.

According to a traffic update released by the command, the incident, which involved 14 persons, happened on Monday night.

Part of the report reads: “Fourteen occupants, including 11 males and three females, were involved. Seven males and two females were injured, and two males were reported dead.

“According to an eyewitness who was at the point of the accident, the DAF truck was parked at a sloping entrance to a warehouse opposite Tipper Garage, while the driver left the engine running and applied the handbrake.

“He then descended from the truck and took his waybill to the security men at the gate of the warehouse. The truck eventually disengaged from the handbrake and reversed onto the expressway, causing the accident.”

The report added that all injured victims were rushed to the Ifo General Hospital for medical attention.
