Operatives of the Taraba State Police Command have arrested four suspects linked to cases of murder and car theft in Wukari local government council of the state.

The arrest, as announced by the command’s spokesperson, James Lashen Saminuon, Friday in a statement in Jalingo, led to the recovering of a stolen vehicle.

“Officers attached to the Wukari Division apprehended Dauda Usman, 45, and Japhet Shekarau, 30, over the killings of two commercial motorcycle operators, Idris Papa from Kano State, murdered on 27th June 2025, and Abdulkadir Ahmad from Bauchi State, killed on 7th May 2025”, the statement read.

The suspects allegedly stole the victims’ motorcycles after the attacks, he noted.

During interrogation, the suspects were said to have confessed to the crimes and named one Habibu Dahiru, of Gindin Doruwa, Wukari, as the receiver of the stolen motorcycles.

The Command confirmed that Dahiru has also been arrested and the case is under further investigation.

In a separate operation, on 8th July, the command also announced the recovery of a Toyota Camry snatched at gunpoint from Ugwa Solomon Ikechukwu in Port Harcourt on 5th July.
“Acting on intelligence from SP Emmanuel Asso, serving in Anambra State, officers tracked the vehicle to the Wukari-Mutum Biyu Road. It was intercepted along Wukari-Bantaje Road, leading to the arrest of the driver, Umar Jabo, 30, from Jalingo,” the command said.

Applauding the officers for their swift action, the Police Commissioner, Emmanuel Simon Bretet, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to keeping the state safe.

He urged continued public cooperation through information sharing to help curb crime in the entire axis of the state.
