Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has revealed he is speaking to Lionel Messi about a possible return to the club.

Xavi claims that Messi’s return “makes sense” and he has a “tactical plan” that involves the 35-year-old.

He told SPORT: “I told the president that Messi’s return makes sense. No doubt at all, he is perfect for our system and ideas.

“I’ve the tactical plan in mind with Leo. It’s up to Leo. I think he has to decide, it’s up to him… I’m speaking with Leo, yes.”

Messi is widely expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain when his current deal expires in the summer.

The Argentina captain joined PSG as a free agent two years ago from Barcelona.
