Mavin Records signee, Ayra Starr, has said her mother continues to question her spending habits, even amid her success in the music industry.
The ‘Sabi’ singer opened up on how her mother has remained actively involved in her financial decisions, prompting ongoing discussions about how she manages her money.
She gave an instance of not being able to buy expensive bags because her mother would query the decision.
“There’s this bag I want, it’s not like I cannot afford it but if I try it my mum will ask questions,” said Ayra Starr.
“She wants me to get to a stage where she doesn’t care but now if I try it she’s gonna be like you spent this much money on a bag. She’s still a complete Nigerian mom.”
“My mom still calls me at 2am asking why I’ve not gone back home from a show I was paid for. She’d make sure you go home immediately after the show and be careful.”
She also shared that her sophomore album is coming this year.“There’s going to be an album this year, I have you 19 and Dangerous, maybe it’s going to be 21 and dangerous this time.”
