The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said it is not disappointed by the resignation of Wole Oke, the member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency.
The party, in a statement issued on Thursday, described Oke’s decision as unfortunate but entirely predictable.
In a statement by the Osun PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, the party accused him of habitually undermining internal processes and engaging in schemes rather than transparent, competitive politics.
His actions, according to the party, reflected a preference for personal gain over party loyalty.
“For over two decades, Hon. Oke enjoyed the goodwill of the PDP, securing multiple terms in the National Assembly under the party’s banner.
“Hon. Oke has long conducted himself like a pampered political stakeholder, more interested in being spoon-fed than earning his place through rules of healthy competition,” the statement continued.
PDP further criticised Oke’s tendency to stoke discontent within the party, labelling his tactics as divisive and not rooted in genuine commitment to the party’s cause.
“The trademark of his tenure in the PDP has always been orchestrated discontent and divisive tactics, never genuine in party commitment.
“The latest move by Hon. Oke affirms what has always been evident – that he sees politics as a personal enterprise rather than a service to the people,” PDP said.
The party also emphasised that its values of loyalty, transparency, and service would remain unshaken, calling on members in Obokun/Oriade federal constituency to stay focused on the party’s mission for progress.
“The PDP stands firm in its values of loyalty, transparency, and service. We urge all members and supporters to remain united under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke,” it stated.
DAILY POST recalls that Oke had resigned his membership of the Osun PDP in a letter dated 16 April 2025 and addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward 7, Obokun Local Government Area.
In the letter, Oke attributed his decision to extensive consultations.
He said, “After wide consultations with my political associates, friends, and family members, I have decided to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party.”
While Oke did not disclose his next political affiliation, he advised his followers and supporters to also exit PDP.
He further urged them to remain calm and await further instructions regarding his next move.
