A 29-year-old Lagos businessman, Ahmed Ajibade, is facing legal proceedings after being arrested for allegedly breaking into a woman’s apartment and committing sexual assault.

According to the Lagos State Police Command, the incident occurred on April 29, 2025, when Ajibade allegedly forced entry into the residence of the complainant, identified as Miss Pedro, at 171 Prince Oniru Ademola Street, Oniru, Lekki.

He was accused of groping her breasts and other private parts without consent and attempting to undress her before she managed to raise an alarm.

Neighbours quickly responded to her cries for help, apprehended the suspect, and alerted the Divisional Police Officer of Maroko Division, CSP Raji Ganiyu. Officers arrived at the scene and took Ajibade into custody.

Following investigations led by Inspector Racheal Anthony, the suspect was arraigned before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Tinubu, on two counts of forcible entry and sexual assault.

Prosecutor Cyriacus Osuji told the court that the defendant’s actions contravened Sections 264(1)(2) and 263(1)(2) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Ajibade pleaded not guilty to the charges. Chief Magistrate Mrs Gbajumo Ayoku granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in the same amount and ordered that he be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility pending fulfilment of bail conditions.

The case was adjourned until May 7, 2025, for mention.
