Xabi Alonso has reportedly urged Real Madrid to sign Chelsea target Dean Huijsen during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Alonso is widely expected to succeed Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid manager at the end of the season.
The Spaniard announced on Friday that he will be leaving Bayer Leverkusen after the current campaign.
However, according to a report by talkSPORT, Alonso is pushing for Real Madrid to secure Huijsen’s signature as soon as he formally takes charge at the Santiago Bernabéu.
He believes the centre-back could be a valuable asset to his squad and views him as a strong candidate for the starting XI.
Huijsen is said to be ready to take the next step in his career, just one year after joining Bournemouth.
He has also attracted interest from Chelsea, who are reportedly in talks with Bournemouth regarding a potential move.
Chelsea have confirmed their intention to activate Huijsen’s release clause, but will now face stiff competition from Real Madrid.
Both clubs are eager to finalise the deal before the FIFA Club World Cup kicks off in June.
Huijsen has a £50 million release clause in his contract, which would see Bournemouth earn more than a 300 per cent return on the Spaniard.
The 20-year-old joined Bournemouth from Juventus for £12.5 million last summer.
