In response to an allegation of job allocation triggered by 93,700 applications for only 4,000 civil service vacancies, the Adamawa State government has assured that applicants will be treated fairly.
The state Civil Service Commission which is handling the employment exercise, debunked the allegation, reiterating that the recruitment is strictly merit-based.
The commission had closed the portal for applications on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 after 93,700 applicants had already sent in their applications for the maximum 4,000 job opportunities.
Some members of the public who had expressed doubt about the fairness of the exercise considering the high volume of responses (more than 20,000 people had applied by the 4th day of the opening of the portal) had since Wednesday been fanning the rumour of slot allocations.
In its response on Sunday, the Adamawa State Civil Service Commission said the alleged allocation of recruitment slots to political office holders is mere rumour.
The Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Abubakar Maiha, stated, “The Commission categorically states that no recruitment slots have been allocated to any individual or political office holder. These rumours are entirely false and misleading.”
According to Maiha, “The integrity of this exercise remains a top priority, and all qualified applicants will be given a fair opportunity.”
