In a bid to address the rising insecurity in the state, the Niger State government has decided to organize a security summit by bringing together key stakeholders in the state.

According to the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Mohammed Abdullahi, during a press conference in Minna, the initiative aims to bring together key stakeholders to deliberate on solutions to the security challenges facing the state.

Abdullahi explained that the summit, with the theme “Collaborative Approach to Security and Peace Building,” will focus on sharing information and protecting against threats, vulnerabilities, and risks that impact public safety.

He explained that the summit will bring together relevant stakeholders from local, state, and federal levels, including traditional and religious leaders, youth and women groups, and inter-tribal communities, to brainstorm on the way forward.

“Others are transport groups, human rights/opinion groups, radio callers, victims of insecurity, and the media,” Abdullahi said.

Also, the Director of the Abdulsalami Abubakar Institute of Peace for Sustainable Development, Dr. Diamond Preye Nebechukwu, expressed her organization’s readiness to support the ministry in combating insecurity.

She noted that the summit is a step in the right direction and emphasized the importance of sustainable peace for development.
