Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Obajana Division, Kogi State, in conjunction with the Nigerian Army and Fulani vigilantes, have rescued three kidnapped victims during a coordinated raid on Ankomi Forest of the state.

A statement by the state police spokesman, William Aya, said the victims were rescued unhurt amid a gun battle between the joint security team and the criminals.

According to the statement, the kidnappers, overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the operatives, abandoned their captives and fled into the bush with gunshot injuries.

Aya disclosed that investigations revealed that two of the victims—Musa Abdullahi from Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, and Abdulazeez Adamu from Okene, Kogi State—were abducted on 15 May 2025 while travelling in a J5 vehicle along Osara Road.

He said they were en route from Ekpoma in Edo State to Jos, Plateau State.

The police spokesman further stated that the third victim, Yusuf Ibrahim from Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was also abducted on the same day and at the same location while travelling in a trailer.

While applauding the operation, the State Police Commissioner, Miller Dantawaye, praised the gallantry of the security personnel and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working in synergy with other security agencies to rid the state of criminal elements.

He urged residents of neighbouring communities to be vigilant and report anyone found seeking medical attention for suspicious injuries to the nearest security formation.
