US officials confirm B-2 bombers moved to Guam as Trump mulls Iran strike

The United States has deployed B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to the Pacific island of Guam, two US officials told Reuters, as President Donald Trump considers whether to join Israel’s escalating military campaign against Iran.

While the officials stopped short of directly linking the deployment to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the move comes amid rising speculation about potential US military involvement in strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

The B-2 bombers, capable of delivering the 30,000-pound GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator, a weapon specifically designed to destroy deeply buried targets, are seen as a strategic option for hitting fortified nuclear sites such as Iran’s Fordo facility.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, declined to specify how many aircraft had been relocated or to provide details about potential orders for their use.

“No forward strike orders have been issued,” one official said, adding that the movement to Guam was a precautionary measure.

The Pentagon has not yet released a formal statement regarding the deployment.

The White House is reportedly in active discussions over the scope and nature of US involvement, as pressure mounts from Israeli officials and Republican lawmakers calling for Washington to “finish the job.”

Guam, home to Andersen Air Force Base, frequently serves as a strategic hub for long-range US air power in the Indo-Pacific region.
