Police in Niger commence weekly training of personnel for enhanced justice dispensation

Niger State Police Command has launched a weekly in-house training program towards enhancing the capacity of its personnel, especially investigation unit detectives, to improve service delivery and ensure swift justice dispensation in the state.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun in Minna, the training was in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman.

He explained, “consequently, the officer in charge of Research and Planning of the Command, who also doubled as the Legal Adviser, CSP Jude Akaeze,with community policing officer DSP Reuben Malachy embarked on a weekly training tour to Police Divisions in the State”.

The PRO stated that the training exercise which commenced on June 17, 2025 will cut across the Divisions in the Minna metropolis as the first phase.

Abiodun explained that the team trained personnel of Central Police Station on the concept of fundamental human rights, professional compilation of Police case files, preparation of charges and prosecution, statement-taking procedures under the Administration of Criminal Justice.

Others areas are Law, Police duties under the new Police Act, Police Code of Conduct, bail in police stations and intelligence-led investigation approaches, amongst other concepts in policing.

“The training program provided the Police personnel the opportunity to refresh their experiences and the level of participation was satisfactory. The team shall visit ‘B’ Division Minna on June 24, 2025 at the next point of the training, “Abiodun further added.

Among the officers in attendance during the lecture include the DPO of the Division CSP Alhassan Isyaku, the DCOs, JWC and Crime Branch personnel, and other personnel of the Division.
