The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) has graduated 358 officers to enhance service delivery in correctional facilities.
Sylvester Nwakuch, Comptroller General of NCoS, presided over the passing-out parade and graduation ceremony of the 340th Basic Recruit Course on Thursday in Kaduna.
The event marked the culmination of six months of rigorous physical, academic, and ethical training for the newly recruited junior officers.
Represented by, Olarenwanju Amoran, Deputy Controller General, he commended the graduates for their courage, discipline, and commitment to national service.
He urged them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and loyalty in their future postings.
Nwakuch said that the graduation came at a time when reforms and innovations were central to the service’s mandate under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Nwakuch said the Nigerian Correctional Service Act, 2019 had transformed the operational framework of the Service by integrating custodial and non-custodial measures.
He revealed that the training institutions had since updated their curricula to reflect these evolving responsibilities.
“The service maintains zero tolerance for indiscipline, disloyalty, and unprofessional conduct.
“I urge you to familiarise yourselves with the relevant laws and standing orders guiding your duties,” he warned.
The CG also acknowledged the support of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Tinubu for their commitment to correctional reforms and improved security governance.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the parade was witnessed by the Commandant of the training school, senior officers, families, and well-wishers.
