A well-known agro-chemical dealer in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, simply identified as Alhaji Chemical, has been abducted from his Taiwo area residence in the community.

The victim was abducted Sunday morning in Lafiagi at about 1:00 a.m., allegedly by suspected Fulani bandits, who reportedly overwhelmed local vigilantes at the scene of the crime with their superior firepower and motorcycles.

According to reports, the assailants specifically targeted Alhaji Chemical for his abduction.

Local vigilantes were unable to prevent the kidnapping due to the bandits’ heavy weaponry and quick getaway on motorbikes.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Lafiagi community, raising fears about the escalating insecurity in the region.

Residents urged security agencies to take swift action to ensure Alhaji Chemical’s safe return and to curb the rising wave of abductions plaguing the area.

DAILY POST reports that recently, two persons, including the owner of Daniyan Saba Petroleum filling station, Abass Daniyan, and his manager, Abubakar Issa, were abducted at Ndeji community in the same Edu Local Government Area of the state.

The duo, abducted on May 10, 2025, were only released after a month in captivity upon payment of about N100 million ransom.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, in Ilorin on Monday, on the latest development, proved abortive.
