Over 500 sets of solar power systems donated to communities and schools in Kenya and Nigeria

Today, over 600 million Africans, nearly half the continent’s population, still live without electricity. This electricity poverty severely affects people’s lives, work, and education. In response, BLUETTI, a global pioneer in clean energy, launched its long-term charity initiative, the LAAF (Lighting An African Family) program in 2023, sending free solar lighting systems to off-grid households across Africa.

In the first half of 2025, BLUETTI donated over 500 sets of solar systems to dozens of underserved communities and schools in Kenya and Nigeria, advancing its goal of empowering one million people with clean, accessible energy. From nomadic settlements to power-strapped classrooms, each solar kit has become more than a light source—it’s a beacon of hope, safety, and progress.

Empowering Nomadic Communities in Marsabit, Kenya
Marsabit, Kenya’s largest county, remains among the most disconnected from the grid. Partnering with the New Life Shelter for Nomadic People of Kenya (NLSNPK), BLUETTI gave away 60 solar kits to newly settled families and schools.
“These solar kits are already making a difference—bringing light, safety, and opportunities, especially for children studying at night and households that previously lived in darkness,” NLSNPK shared in a Facebook post, thanking BLUETTI for bringing tangible change to the region.

Brightening Futures at Olopirrik Primary School
Situated in the remote mountainous regions of Nairobi, Kenya, Olopirrik Primary School nurtures the dreams of hundreds of students for a more promising future. However, the lack of electricity threatens its mission. Reached through the Kenya Cultural Centre, BLUETTI delivered 100 solar kits to both the school and local homes.

“Your contribution is more than a donation—it’s an investment in our children’s future. The primary pupils are now better equipped to learn, dream, and grow,” said Ms. Jennifer Koikai, Director of the KCC. The LAAF team also trained teachers and students to maximize the use of solar systems for everyday life.

No Child Left Behind at Mutundu Primary School
At Kenya’s Mutundu Primary School, where children with autism learn alongside their peers, unreliable electricity disrupted learning. BLUETTI partnered with retail chain China Square to donate 30 solar kits and school supplies. Classrooms were rewired on-site, and when the lights came on, joy lit up every student’s face. Learning no longer depends on noisy generators, and the school now enjoys a brighter, more consistent educational environment.

Igniting Hope at Deyo Tuwo Comprehensive High School, Nigeria
In Nigeria’s off-grid Imewuro community, Deyo Tuwo Comprehensive High School struggled with daily blackouts. After learning of the school’s plight from volunteer teacher Ms. Olamide Adesina of Teach for Nigeria — an NGO that BLUETTI had partnered with last year — BLUETTI visited the school and sent 50 solar kits.
“When the first light came on, the smiles said it all,” she shared. After installation, she overheard a student say, “I can now read without using my mummy’s phone torch.”

A Commitment to Light the Way Forward
To date, the LAAF program has empowered over 2,500 African families, benefiting over 60,000 people with sustainable, accessible energy. Through partnerships, education, and direct community outreach, BLUETTI is fulfilling its social mission: to bring light and opportunity where it’s needed most.

As a company built on innovation and love, BLUETTI believes in making the world better—one solar kit at a time. The LAAF initiative will continue to expand its reach, aiming to light up more people with renewable energy solutions.
