The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has urged instructors and staff of the state Police Training School to adequately drill the 371 recruits currently undergoing basic police constable training on their duties and responsibilities.
CP Elleman made this call during an official visit to the training school in Minna, stressing that discipline is essential for the recruits. He therefore tasked the instructors to ensure that the trainees are properly equipped to become responsible policemen and women.
He recalled the excellent performance of their senior colleagues during the Police Day parade and encouraged the recruits to study harder, remain focused, and loyal so they may graduate as intelligent and diligent officers, ambassadors of the Force, not only in learning but also in character.
“Therefore, I charge you to endure the rigours of training, remain focused, dedicated and disciplined as proper conduct is vital in the performance of duties and responsibilities as a police officer,” he emphasised.
The Commissioner of Police assured the recruits that their welfare and security are his priorities, and directed the Operations Department to ensure adequate protection of the institution.
He also acknowledged the challenges faced by the school, including water supply issues, and promised to expedite action to address them.
Earlier, the Commandant of PTS Minna, ACP Yunusa Isa Wakili, disclosed that the recruits had completed their basic examinations and would commence intermediate examinations on July 2, 2025.
According to him, the recruits were already three months into their training, which began on April 12, 2025.
He expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for his visit and appealed to him to use his good office to help address some of the school’s persistent challenges.
