Troops of Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A have neutralized a suspected bandit and rescued a kidnapped victim during a precision ambush operation in Sabon Gari village of Wase Local Government, Plateau State.

Reliable military sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation took place around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, following credible intelligence reports on the movement of armed bandits along the Kampani–Zurak–Sabon Gari corridor.

Troops from Sector 2, which is part of Operation Safe Haven, in response the credible intelligence placed obstacles at strategic crossing locations used by the criminals.

During the ambush, troops engaged in a brief but intense gun fight, during which one of the bandits was killed while others fled and left their items.

A subsequent clearing operation led to the rescue of Mr. Amadu Alhaji Nuhu, a 45-year-old from Taraba State who has been held captive by the bandits.

The items retrieved from the operations include a locally made pistol, a pistol magazine, four 9mm rounds of ammunition, a boxer motorcycle, a pair of shoes, a cap, and a head warmer.

The rescued victim and all recovered materials have been taken into safe custody by the military. Meanwhile, search and pursuit operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing bandits.

Military authorities reiterated their commitment to dismantling criminal hideouts and restoring lasting peace across the region.
